Hotaru No Yume Dojo
I can only come to class every other day because of my job. Is that a problem?
In Wing Chun, everyone moves at their own pace, which poses no problem.
Can I be reimbursed if I stop taking classes during the year for any reason?
Out of respect for the life of the association and its teachers, all commitments are firm and final, and will not be reimbursed during the year.
Do I need a medical certificate to take part in the courses?
Yes, as with any physical activity, a certificate certifying that you have no contraindications is required at the time of registration. It is valid for 3 years.
Do I need to be in good physical condition to join your courses?
Yes and no. Good physical condition is not a prerequisite, and will be improved and optimized with practice. On the other hand, you must not have any pathologies that could be aggravated by martial arts practice or physical and mental preparation.
Do you belong to a federation?
No, we’re an independent school, and none of the disciplines we offer are affiliated to a federation.

Can I enrol in your course if I already practise a martial art from another federation?
Yes, the teaching here is for everyone, all practitioners and all levels.
Can I take a trial class?
Yes, you can take a trial class, but it’s not free. The €20 we charge for this course means that, in a room where we welcome a maximum of 15 people, we can reserve places for those who are really motivated. They will then be deducted from your course registration.
Are there any competitions in your Wing Chun classes?
No, this teaching is devoid of any form of competition. Traditional arts are incompatible with the spirit of competition.

What is Aunkai?
Aunkai is a martial art founded by Sensei Minoru AKUZAWA. It’s a highly effective method of training the body, enabling us to understand how it works in the finest, most efficient way possible.
Can Aunkai complement the practice of another martial art?
Yes, absolutely. Aunkaï is for anyone who wants to learn how to use their body to the full. Whether you’re a practitioner of another discipline or a neophyte, Aunkai will give you all the keys you need to make better use of your body system on a daily basis.
Are there any codified Aunkai techniques?
No, Aunkai includes exercises (solo and with partners) that allow you to integrate and test your understanding of fundamental body principles. When we practice martial applications, they emanate from our understanding of how to use our body, not from a pre-established memory of a fixed technique. “When the body is ready, the technique springs forth” Minoru AKUZAWA.
Aïkibugei
What is Aikibugei?
Aïkibugei, formerly Aïkibujutsu, is a complete martial art created by Sensei Lionel OUDART. It is the result of a lifetime of research into Aiki techniques. It is composed of Aikido, Aikibudo and Daïto Ryu techniques and links these three strategies.
Does Aikibugei depend on a federation?
Aïkibugei does not belong to any federation accredited by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Aïkibugei is taught and supervised by the national college of instructors trained by Lionel OUDART.
Does Aikibugei include the use of weapons?
Although Aikibugei is a bare-handed martial art, it includes the use of knives, short sticks (truncheons) and, to a very limited extent, swords.

Are there any weapons other than the sword in Katori Shinto Ryu?
Yes, these weapons are the Bô (long stick), Naginata (Japanese halberd), Kodachi (short sword), Yari (spear) and in some cases throwing weapons (Shuriken Justu). when this teaching has not been lost.
Does Katori include empty-hand techniques?
Historically yes, but these techniques called Yawara Justu seem to have been lost over time.

What is physical and mental preparation?
Do you need to be in good physical condition to practice physical and mental preparation?
The main aim of physical and mental preparation is to improve and optimize general fitness. This method is accessible to all, and everyone can progress at their own pace. So you don’t need to be in any particular physical condition.
Do I need special equipment to practice?
You’ll need comfortable sportswear, a towel, tissues and a bottle of water.
